About us
Upon All burst onto the Newcastle metal scene in 2006 with their current line up: Phil Van D – vocals, Ben Hardman – bass, Barry Mitcheson – drums, Neil Pragnell –guitar and Bob Smoke – guitar.
Each member brings their own musical tastes into the mix, ensuring a diverse and exciting sound to their music. The band has been writing almost continuously for the past two years, finding motivation and inspiration from their audience. With each new song they write, the band creates a tighter and more unique sound, and the audience loves them!
The past two years have also seen Upon All play a wealth of venues around the North East of England. During this time they have won 3 “Battle of the Band” competitions, the most recent being Trillian’s rock bar where they stormed through all heats. With 82 other bands competing, competition was definitely tough for the coveted prize of £1000 and the chance to be played on the “Alan Robson Rock Show” (97.1 Metro FM).
Upon All always work hard to ensure a solid, tight performance on stage and its clear to see the chemistry and bond that the band have. The band always has huge amounts of energy and carries the audience with them on a wave of organised chaos ensuring a tight and energetic performance that carries the crowd with them on a wave of intensity.
In the last 6 months Upon All have been busy recording their much anticipated debut EP, Fear of No Control. They spent nine days in the studio, Digital Gardens, with a renowned metal studio engineer. They were able to demonstrate their individual talents in this well-constructed and confident collection of tracks. Upon All also took the opportunity to have professional photographs taken by Mark Savage of Savage Photography. They enjoyed the challenge of creating a look that was metal without being a metal cliché.
Upon All are now fiercely engaged in promoting their EP, with a line-up of gigs and festivals stretching into 2009. With one video already recorded (courtesy of Holly Sherwood) and another in the process Upon All have shown their talents. Along with their current EP, there is a lot to look forward to from this charismatic and exciting young band.
