About us
The Traffic band were officially formed early in 2007 having previously been Paul and Neville under the guise of The Various Tempo's who had been writing songs together for a couple of years. Then came the arrival of Harrison who originally began as a talented bass guitarist, moved onto and learn't the drums and encouraged Paul to pick up and learn the bass and moved us in the direction of a three piece, giving us for the first time the ability to play live sets to exhibit the vast catalogue of material that had been stock piled up until that point. Harrison soon began to add his own versatile drum stylings to the tracks and made the songs more complete. Still however there was room for one more as Neville was playing both lead and rhythm in a recording environment was fine but for performance was pretty tough going and in most songs impossible. Then came the opportunity to team up with a couple of girls playing live gigs acoustically local to us, one of these girls was Laura who impressed the band with her finger style guitar playing and voice. Laura thankfully expressed interest in the material that the band showcased for her and began to rehearse with the band again having to learn and identify with a new role playing lead guitar as opposed to rhythm. All in all from the very beginning the band had to be very diverse as most of the band were learning their instruments but ultimately this has shaped a very unique style and sound which has been growing and improving together as the months wear on and it is this has helped us all develop into a more complete music making unit.
