About us
Thank you very much everyone who took time out to vote we actually won it....hehehhee....magic
The Tartan Rascals were formed on the 20th february 2006 by Stephen Young & Alex Scott Although they have known each other all there lives. They come from a small scottish village called Lennoxtown at the foot of the Campsie Fells about ten miles from the centre of Glasgow,
After being under the influence of alcohol and talking about getting a band together for about ten years we decided it was time to pen some of the ideas we had over the years and come up with some music to back it up, We have nearly completed or first album entitled "You Cant Tell" which can be downloaded from our website @ www.tartanrascals.co.uk.
We have had some light success with 5 number ones on the www.mp3unsigned.com website and have done some good collaborations with other artists on there. This first album is a more personal attempt by us to say what we feel is going on in our present day lives.
We use Cubase SX3 and Reason "with rewire" didnt use any sampled music at all..its all been produced using cubase effects on our own midi keyboard with various different synth/violin/harp effects. We built the drum sounds within Reason and the bass with Trilogy Bass Module mixed with real time bass, for our lead guitar we use Guitar Rig 2 and the final mixdown with T-Racks mastering suite.
The tracks are updated as we work on them so keep coming back to hear them as we update them, We hope to have an album complete before the end of spring 2007, So that if we feel all our hard work merits it, We plan to send our completed album to a Mastering Suite to put the finishing touches and hopefully bring out the best in our work.
We would list the following bands as influences in the road that our music has taken.
Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Roy Harper, 70's to 80's Brit Punk, Radiohead,Cold Play,World Party,The Waterboys, The Cure, Nickel Creek The La's, The Jam, Gorillaz, and many many more.
If you come across our website or someone has given you the link Please sign our Guest Book before you leave.
Special thanks to Shug Kindo and Aaron for contributions and we hope to continue getting input from them as the tracks materialise.
Thanks
Akkie & Stevy
