The Band

About us


It all began a few years ago when a group of us decided to form a band. We changed our instruments; members came and went for a couple of years, leaving just Rosie and Alex, the drummer and guitarist who had been friends since the age of three. They continued to write music and lyrics, playing together at school, in a church in Addiscombe and in each others houses, whilst searching for other band members.
Almost a year later they found the bassist, Steff who at the time had never played one in her life, but was willing to give it a go. And so the rehearsals continued.
On entering 6th Form, they met Andy who became the singer of the band and was the final piece in the sovietones puzzle. After rehearsing some more and adding words to the music, they went to a small rehearsal and recording studio, Antenna in Crystal Palace and recorded live what was effectively their demo.

They still continue to reherse when they can, often falling into a vortex of jazz and improv, just enjoying getting lost in the music.
