About us

In a modern world where a computer can almost make music on its own The Response Collective is still a band. Three people - a guitar player, a bassist/keyboardist and a turntablist make this instrumental music. It has been described as a mixture of dance, chill out, rock, grooves, hip hop etc…make up your own mind…

Bands sometimes come together with a plan, the Response Collective just evolved, very much like the Universe. Starting from “no where” to “now here”.

It started when a turntablist went to a guitarist to learn some “riffs” . They actually started jamming– one guitar and two turntables, that day they wrote about 20 different songs together. They enjoyed it and did it again, asking a keyboardist/bass player to join them. Three people in a room making music…tunes and beats and noises, from nowhere to now here this seemed suspiciously like a band but without a vocalist.

They played the songs to their friends who liked them. They did some gigs and the audience responded well so they made an album together and played more gigs. The debut album will be released June 10th 2007 features 14 songs. The music is a combination of beats, samples, guitars, keyboards, bass and drums.

As well as being a melodic and rhythmic experience the album features a general theme of expanding consciousness, quantum physics and the mysteries of our inner world and our outer universe. Samples include excerpts from the highly successful movie “WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW “ featuring Dean Radin and Amit Gosami These samples appear courtesy of Lord Of the Wind Films, LLC©2004.

So just like the Universe that started from nothing so did this band evolve from nothing to something. We hope you enjoy.
