About us
The Valentines all look slightly fantastic...and they sound better than they look. A brighton based band - they formed in 2007 when singer Christian Jegard, after a year of doing nothing but writing songs and doing kisses, approached bassist Andy Halliday, guitarists Danny Curtis, Tom Jordan and Drummer Dan Lowman, and asked them to join him, making fun, proper songs that sound like they were sprinkled in Sugar and glitter... they started smashing melodies out for everyone to fall in love with/to. They are not lying when they say they have all the power and style of a helicopter. For too long now have drab indie bands polluted our flappers with grinding tedium...the new age of pop stars is upon us. The Valentines promise glamorous romance and absolute belters...having only just started at the tail end of 2007, after a handful of gigs in Brighton, the word spread of their energetic live performances - not to mention the catchy hooks and glam-pop melodies. The Observer Music Monthly has already praised them as the "cream of the crop" of new talent, comparing them with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - on bbc.co.uk reviewer Ryan Morrison had this to say: "...the minute they started playing I was hooked. Jegard is the ultimate front man – full of energy, adrenaline and talent ...This is a band with the right look, sound and attitude to instantly grab your attention and then leave you wanting more." They are currently preparing to go into the studio and upcoming shows include slots at The Great Escape and Jersey Live Festivals.
