About us

[note to station: full 320kbps versions of "Emily" and "Sleepless" for airplay on XFM available on request]

The Lightyears play infectious pop-rock characterised by catchy melodies, lush vocal harmonies and high-energy live performances.

International touring experience includes the French Alps, Belgium, South Korea, Thailand and the East Coast of America. The band have sold out venues in both London and Philadelphia, as well as playing to audiences of 500+ in East Asia.

Last year, The Lightyears played Glastonbury Festival, won BEST POP/ROCK ACT at the 2007 INDY Awards, appeared live on WXPN national radio in the USA to an audience of over 3 million and began recording with top producer Hugh Padgham (Sting & The Police, Genesis, Paul McCartney, David Bowie).

2008 kicked off with sell-out gigs at the Water Rats and The Troubadour and a nomination for this year’s INDY Awards. The Lightyears were also selected as an “XFM Featured Artist” in early February and received primetime airplay on Steve Harris’ show. Plans for the near future include tour dates across the country, the band’s debut at Astoria 2 in April, a return to Asia in May and a busy festival schedule in the summer.
