About us
The Leads are: David Brown (Vocals), Gary Hornsby (Guitar and Vocals), Dave Maley (Bass and Vocals), Stuart Taylor (Guitar) and John Marshall (Drums). Formed in late 2006, the whole band were entirely new to the business of music making, but worked to quickly construct an electrifying set of songs and an even better group of dedicated travelling base of fans. Their fresh and funky indie rock has earned them many plaudits and supporters and highlights have included playing alongside bands such as Popup, Figure 5, The Law and the Stone Roses Experience on various occassions, at venues including Glasgow's Barfly and Barrowlands and the prestigious Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh. A massive achievement came in early 2008 as The Leads supported legendary 90s Britpoppers The Bluetones. Their music has been described as a 'a two fingered gesture to serial whine merchants like Chris Martin and James Blunt' as well as 'doing a tremendous job to brighten up the lives' of those who listen to it. Their 'quirky, upbeat melodies' and 'harsh but soul sounding' vocals make them unmissable live. Their sound has been compared to 'spiky guitar work of John Squire combined with a Happy Mondays groove and a dash of Jet' as well as being likened to the bouncy pop of Cast and The La's. The band intend to play to bigger crowds at bigger venues, writing, recording and persisting with the desire that characterises the group. FLB.
