REFORMED
In the summer of 2008 Ian Hendry, Lee Hendry and Ian Northcote, agreed to reform the band and they immediately recorded a 3 Track EP of brand new material. They now are looking to re-establish The Juzu Kings on the music scene.
BAND HISTORY
The Juzu Kings were originally formed in 1996 by school friends Ian Hendry (guitars), Daniel Lewis (Vocals) and Paul Webber (drums) along with Ian Northcote (Bass). They started playing locally around the Hafod area of Swansea and not long after they recruited Lee Hendry as the rhythm guitarist.
For the next few months the band played many gigs around Swansea and started to gain a large local following. In early 1998 they recorded their first demo CD and then began going further afield to play other venues in the South Wales area. They quickly became a regular and popular fixture on the local circuit. In the summer of 1999, Paul Webber parted company with The Juzu Kings, and the drummers vacancy was taken up by Paul Hodson. By this time the band was now starting to gain radio play on stations such as The Wave, and Radio Wales, and in late 1999 they won the prestigious 'South Wales Battle Of The Bands' competition. The prize was a recording session at the world renowned Rockfield Studios where acts such as Queen. Oasis and The Manic Street Preachers have all worked. In 2000 their self penned song 'Now That You're Mine' was chosen by The Wave FM to be included on the radio stations 'Waveband 2' compilation CD which highlighted the best musical talent in South Wales at the time. Following on from this the band was chosen as the opening act for the 2000 Party In The Park concert in Swansea. At this event they performed in front of a crowd of 16,000 people. For the next year and and half The Juzu Kings played in a host of events and venues across the UK. They performed at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool and numerous occasions and other highlights included The Big Buzz Festival in Cardiff, The Rock Garden in London, TJ's in Newport and The Shed in Leicester. In early 2002 due to various reasons the band unfortunately split and the members went their seperate ways.
