About us
Grand Ambition, Guerrilla Gigs and ‘Rusted Rock’
…Stealing Green release debut EP…
Stealing Green has released their first EP, amidst a storming reception in London’s Clapham Grand. The 3 track effort is titled simply, yet ambitiously, Stealing Green: I.
The band, described by NME magazine as having ‘Zeppelin sized riffs and even bigger vocals’ have been together less than a year, but have been making giant strides, and creating a noise on the UK circuit, playing such venues as The Camden Underworld, The Clapham Grand, The 100 Club, and more.
When asked where they fit in the Musical spectrum, the band replies “We have so many elements to our sound, it’s difficult to define us”. NME recently tried, coining the neologism ‘rusted rock’. The moniker fits well, as the S.G. sound mixes elements of rock spanning the last half-century, avoiding the pitfalls of sounding too experimental or slavishly retro. S.G. walks the knife-edge, and the balance is studiously achieved, resulting in… ‘Rusted Rock’.
These young men have lived their lives, and travelled miles; this is reflected in their reassuringly human take on this oft-travelled path.
Stealing Green have been gigging and steadily building a fan-base in the lead up to this release; the most recent of successes coming in the form of airplay on XFM, as well as being chosen as XFM Uploaded’s band of the week.
When asked what element they enjoy most, the response is a unanimous “Guerrilla gigs”. From inner-city rooftops to festival car parks and queuing areas, the band targets locations where the assembled crowd will be receptive to their sound and does what they do best; give a high energy, dynamic set that will come to characterise the live rock act of 2008.
“Stealing Green: I hits all major download services on August 27th”.
