About us
The tale of how the Reikidogs came to be has long been shrouded in mystery. Some say they simply evolved; others suggest they were brought together following a meeting between the devil and Mr T at the Bawdrip crossroads
So, if you’re sitting comfortably, let me take you back to the year of our Lord 2007.
A muddy Mr T and an even muddier Geoff were alone with their thoughts, and their empty sigh-durr glasses, at the Glastonbury Music Festival when fate forced them to literally collide as they simultaneously stepped forward to get their glasses replenished.
Luckily, both were well and truly refreshed by several measures of the sweet tasting local concoction by then and so, instead of the angry confrontation you may imagine occurring in such a situation, the two greeted each other as long lost friends and, over the course of the following hours, forged a friendship based upon mutual tastes in music and beverage. Sadly, fate got bored of this increasingly slurred and repetitive conversation and dealt a devilish hand to the would be ‘dogs.
The two woke the following day able to perfectly recall the other and the promises they’d made to make beautiful music together, but… Geoff couldn’t quite grasp how he’d managed to drop his phone (with Tom’s number dutifully programmed in) down a three-day old Glastonbury port-a-loo, while Mr T was puzzled as to the practical uses of the magic beans he’d traded his in for.
Thankfully, fate is a forgiving fellow, and some time later he decided enough was enough and yelled at the top of his lungs, “Let there be Reikidogs”, and… well… there was.
Mr T and Geoff were reacquainted following a loud, and potentially life threatening, altercation with a 6ft transvestite busker on the mean streets of Glastonbury town centre. And the young pups soon became fully-fledged Reikidogs when Drummer Dan and Brummie exile, Chirps came on-board.
Style-guru Dan apparently knew someone who knew someone who knew Geoff and, following an introduction by a mutual friend, passed the kind of stringent auditioning process normally reserved for prime time Saturday evening light entertainment programmes to be given the title of drummer and style advisor. The latter part of this being as vital a role as his drumming skills due to a certain band members’ penchant for sandals, socks and comfortable jogging pants.
Chirps meanwhile is something of a mystery. According to folklore he simply appeared at a rehearsal one day, played some mean bass lines and was gleefully welcomed on-board. Although this rumour-monger has it on good authority that his God-given Brummie grumpiness meant he didn’t reciprocate the other’s open display of enthusiasm, meaning to this day that Mr T, Geoff and Dan are not quite sure if he really wanted to join the band or not.
Anyway, ladies and gentlemen that was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth (so help me God) when it comes to the Reikidogs coming together. THE END.
