About us
RED INK
Drawing inspiration from acts such as U2, The Police, The Killers, The Smiths, the Cure and Bloc Party, Mornington Peninsula (Australia) indie-poppers Red Ink manage to blend their addictive melodies with anthem-like hooks. Made up of singer/synth player John Jakubenko, guitarist/singer Brendan Jones, bassist/singer James Munns, and drummer Aaron Sim, the band have spent the last 18 months creating what is now Red Ink. Jakubenko and Jones, having spent high school music classes together soon discovered similar musical tastes and career directions. Over the following years Munns and Sim were recruited to join the quartet; Independently releasing several demos throughout 07/08. The first containing three tracks, all of which; “Kleptmomaniac”, "Monday Morning" & "Love On A Park Bench" received airplay on both Triple J and other local radio broadcasts.
With an armoury of hypnotic tunes and in intensely captivating live performance the lads have began to attract attention from all walks of the local and extended music community; having played along-side acts such as Evermore, Hoodoo Gurus, Grinspoon, Dukes of Windsor, Fred Falke and Little Birdy. Also participating in several on-air radio interviews, the Mornington Peninsula four piece have been hard at work developing a network of fanatic supporters.
