About us


Drop legendary drum and bass producer Chris Rush (formerly of Calyx) into a studio with one of the sharpest drummers in Rock history, Terl Bryant—an integral part of John Paul Jones’ post-Led Zeppelin career—and the result was always going to be extraordinary.

True to form, Rush, who has returned to his roots by building a catalogue of rock-based songs, Bryant and their other musical aficionados have created an EP of extravagant quality.

Out-and-out progressive Rock, Pure Assassins are infused with bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead and Muse. But careful listening reveals a host of even subtler influences, such as Mo Wax’s fluid, heavy bass lines.

Vocalist and guitarist Rush, while in the duo Calyx, had numerous releases with Moving Shadow, 31 Records and Rugged Vinyl, amongst other labels. They achieved extensive global radio play, including many airings on Radio 1, with their unique take on techstep/neurofunk.

Pure Assassins are currently a studio based project but plan to hit the road Summer '08.
