About us
PRETTY BRICKS are a North London two-piece who blend ‘kick in the teeth’ folk with vital and fearful pulsating rhythms to drench stages and change hearts.
PRETTY BRICKS consists of ‘vitriolic’, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Russell Joslin and ear shattering drummer Jacob Wheeler from up and coming experimental band Mozzy Green.
Having been together for much less than a year the duos musical experience and capability have propelled them to impressive heights in a very short period of time…with the band having already supported bands such as Beggars Banquet Kraut-rockers The Early Years and Scouting for Girls, as well as being booked for BESTIVAL 2008. PRETTY BRICKS have also been played on BBC 6 music, championed by Tom Robinson from the station and are regularly playing alongside established signed bands at top London venues (The Old Blue Last, The Amersham Arms), spreading the word with self-produced EP: ‘Blood on the Coals’. The band hit the road with every opportunity, playing gigs in Edinburgh, Wolverhampton as well as Londons surrounding counties.
The ‘eloquent’ and hard-edged folk of Joslin; challenging and confessional, combined with, the vicious drumming of Wheeler; infused with both the power of John Bonham and the playfulness and flair of the ceilidh tradition creates a stripped down, visceral and truly unique sound…blending the shanty spirit with a modern day angst; making the band dangerously current and their near future very bright indeed….
