About us


Porpoise are a UK based band who formed around January 2007 when the bass player (Jon Behrendt), guitarist (Pete Stanley) & drummer (Gareth McCabe) disbanded their old band Dials. Realising they still wanted to make music more than anything else, Pete rallyed the band together hooking up with Singer/Guitarist Dave Halama (Knives Of Goya, Horse Called Chariot) who was known locally as a bit of a wizard of the shred. Their aim was to make noisy disjointed rock like their heros: Flaming Lips, Guided By Voices, Pavement, Fugazi, Pixies & Mastodon, mixing them with the pop sensibilities/country noise of bands like Queen, The Beatles, Neil Young & Lynard Skynard. It's fair to say the band are a bunch of musos, but they never take themselves too seriously.
