About us
A teenage riot fuelled by Alternative, Indie, Funk from Luton go under the name of Pirate Radio. This three piece with the average age of 18 have been tearing through the live scene for 2 years now. Starting from the old school practice room they have come leaps and bounds since, creating a large fan base. Pirate Radio have played many legendary venues such as The Hope and Anchor London, Lark In The Park London, Turnmills London, Bedford Esquires, The Horn St Albans, The Joiners Southampton and loads of Student Unions up and down the country. With over 70 gigs under their belt Pirate Radio have played with many famous bands such as the likes of Reading festival openers Giant Drag, The Holloways, Warner Brother signed American Disco rock Men Women And Children, The Soho Dolls, Thee Unstrung and Art Brut. They have hit the recording studio twice to record an early demo and in the spring of 2006 an E.P which was reviewed 9/10 in VBAH magazine. Pirate Radio have had airplay on local radio stations like Chiltern fm and been in the local media many times, even reaching the Nme, BBC.com and The Fly magazine. Adam the promoter of the Horn and Channel 4’s Popworld magazine has said,
“What I saw in that one band was everything I was looking to achieve,”
With sell out shows in their hometown which include stage invasions, nakedness with a surge of raw energy, Pirate Radio’s show must not be missed. The future looks bright for these young rock and roll tearaways. Big things are going to happen so watch this space.
