About us

Ok. Let's take it back about a year and a month or two. It all started in year 10 on this yearly workshop at our school called 'Arts week', in which the idea is to get the people of our school involved with creative arts. Us year 10 music group got caught in a bit of a mess up with the teachers and wasn't able to take part in art's week (same for the drama group but nobody cares about them (: ).

We were assigned a different task. A task of skill. A task of cunning and lastly, A task of getting into small groups and divising a cover song. At first it was Rob, Sam, Jake and Aran and we began work on 'give it away' by the chillies but that didn't really work. wayyyyy to complicaited for our effort. So one day in the week on the way to school, Rob was listening to the good old XFM and 'bohemian like you' by The Dandy warhols was played. He rushed into school with the suggestion of covering it and they all rejoiced. With 2 days untill preformance, and the other group with their song 'Chelsea dagger' already complete, the pressure was on.

A guy named Alex joined our group on keys and we became a 5 man group. We preformed the song together on the last day and smashed the other group musically of course. We decided we should take it up as a proper band and so we did, but Alex wanted out; he didn't want to be in a band being a classical musician. This is where Pay and Display were born and where it begun.

We couldn't decided what genre to take up having mixed tastes and musical difference, so we all decided on funk rock which none of us knew much about :) (it saves all the arguing). At the Beginning of 2008 we asked our friend David if he wanted to take up synth, which he did, forming the final formation of pay and display.
