The Band
About us
Paul Oska combines tracks from his previous, extended demo onto this album of interesting tunes; hence we get bleak but interesting tracks like “Swallow Me” and “Wouldn’t It Be Better”. He’s the king of dark acoustica and disjointed song structures, illuminated by sparse guitar playing and the careful arrangement of strings. He’s reminiscent of Mark Lanegan but with a crisper slightly more uplifted voice. “I Won’t Start” and title track “I Think I’m Dead” search through the depths of folk and torch songs, rustling up barren, slow motion landscapes. There’s a completeness to his songs throughout, with a vein of optimism running through the sometimes dour yet witty lyrics. It all adds up to an intriguing and sometimes spell binding journey. - (JA - Manchester Music)
