About us
Partners In Justice were formed at the tail end of 2005 in Enfield, North London by Charlie on vocals & bass, Dez on drums & Chris on guitar. Charlie & Dez had both played in bands together on & off since their teens but over the years they lost touch with each other. In mid-2005 they happened to bump into each other & talked briefly about starting a band. Although they were both serious about the idea, however drunken the conversation may have been, the reality of it was that neither of them thought it was going to happen. Around the same time Charlie had made friends with a local guitarist, Chris, whom he'd seen around his hometown since his school days. The two had exactly the same conversation that Charlie had with Dez & they agreed that they'd sort out a rehearsal to see if they could come up with anything. The trio found that, once they started rehearsing & writing together, they were coming up with songs that far surpassed any preconceptions that they'd had about themselves.
In April 2006 the trio went into a recording studio for the first time with ex-Vibrators bassist, Pat Collier. They recorded what they considered their 4 best songs at the time & the outcome was successful, although they realised something was missing on listening to the rough mixes.
Charlie felt that he could improve his vocal melodies & actually sing a lot better if he wasn't playing bass. Enter Marilyn. Marilyn's arrival to the fold was the turning point for the band, musically. Everything started to get tighter & the songs started to sound big. Since their first show in September 2006 their confidence has grown & with the added learning curve of their live set they ventured back into the studio in that November, again with Pat Collier. The difference with this recording to the first was striking. The songs more immediate, more vocal with choruses that float in your head like nursery rhymes. The guitars were that much more focused with the rhythm section tighter than they'd ever been. Tellingly, the vocals were now laced with harmonies that lifted the original ideas. The result was exactly what every single member of Partners In Justice had been hoping for. Partners In Justice play noisy pop music with passion. They believe that every song should have a chorus that can hook you in. Songs of truths, hopes, fears & loves. Their initial ideas of being just another local rock band have been laid to waste with their new visions of rising above & creating something that can mean something to other people. With the recent addition of Nicola on keyboards to add another element to their sound, it's time for Partners In Justice to prove why they should be everyone's new favourite band.
