About us
Based in Peterborough, Opaque have become the most original and renowned bands in the city. They gig hard both home and away, making regular appearances nationwide. They have also established themselves on the festival circuit playing at Secret Garden, Bestival, Small World, Pink and GrassRoots festival in 2006. With a growing cult following Opaque have been personally invited to play support slots for Kasabian, The Kooks, The Ordinary Boys, Tom Vek, Biffy Clyro and regularly with The Bluetones.
They have self released three demo ep’s, shifting nearly 3000 copies over the space of 2 years and have now signed to Drip-Dry from which they released their debut album “The Last Moustache which was released in February 2006 which is available in selected HMV Stores. Their debut studio album won critical acclaim both in the local Cambridgeshire press and national papers such as the NME, Opaque are also featured on the Smell The Bicycle cd which is available at selected Fopp and Virgin Stores.
“Opaque’s debut album “The Last Moustache” is a refreshing new sound with a familiarity that is very difficult to describe. This new wave acoustica seems to draw from so many influences yet favour none in particular. With an arrangement of catchy hooks and a lyrical depth that really proves their worth I’d say we’ll be hearing a lot more from them over the coming year.” NME February 2006
