About us
Ocean State are a 4 piece band from Sheffield, England. The band’s ‘solid as a rock’ rhythm source is provided by Tony Keyworth on drums. On bass is Richard Turner, with his bass lines every bit as singable as the vocal melodies. On guitar, knocking out ocean state’s riffs, chords and solos is Chris Goodyear. Oceans state’s vocals are provided by their front man Richard Gill, all of whom are in their early twenties. The band formed in spring 2006 and are based in UK’s musical hot spot at the moment: Sheffield. They have just recorded their first demo entitled ‘Arrival’, featuring 3 songs: Knifedge, Arrival, and Devil’s Dancefloor. The band have been writing influenced by a ridiculously wide range of musical styles ranging from motown to motorhead attempting to fuse their eclectic musical tastes in to a hybrid sound. Ocean State’s sound relies heavily on melodic chord progressions and the rhythm section to provide a solid base for catchy vocal melodies. The lyrics mostly tell of personal events but also of escaping from the real world and relationship problems. No matter what the song or sound Ocean State always aim for quality in every aspect. Ocean State’s live performances promise to be full of energy from beginning to end and very honest to a large extent. These guys are not trying to be something there not, just 4 guys doing what they do and enjoying it.
