About us


NotePress are an ambitious young rock band situated at the heart of Manchester’s music scene. Formed by lead singer Ben Watte in 2006, they have played some of the city’s favourite venues, including The Dry Bar and Night and Day. The band gained a large audience when they supported nationally followed act Spider Simpson last year, and recently they were invited to take part in the Nordoff-Robbins charity event at the Hard Rock Cafe.

All four members of NotePress were educated at Chetham's School of Music, and out of their classical roots has spiralled a unique pop/rock sound. The band’s sound balances intense harmony with ‘catchy melodies’, which fans have said creates a “fresh and inspiring performance each time”.

Ben Watte enjoys working with all genres of music and is currently pursuing his initial interest of jazz, working alongside guitarist Laurie Dempsey at the Royal Northern College of Music. The band’s drummer Dave Elliot, who is the winner of various national competitions, now lives in London and is studying a similar course at Trinity College of Music in Greenwich. He regularly travels back up to Manchester to play with the band whilst promoting their music to the London scene. Bassist, Simon Chaplin is the newest member of the band and regularly plays with a diverse range of musical groups from classical to jazz and rock.

Notepress recently recorded their debut E.P, 'Portrait of Enthusiasm' which will be available for purchase at their next gig.
