MUSIC ROLL EXCHANGE (MRE)
Voc/guitar/Songwriter – Al Louis
Guitars/Voc/Songwriter –Pinda Dhanoya
Bass – Gurj Gill
Drums – James Ash
MUSIC ROLL EXCHANGE originally formed in sunny South London. Two Yorkshire-men, a Brummie-Scot and a Londoner – and it’s destined to be a very successful formula!
Their unique blend of rock and pop, drenched in catchy hooks and melodies has found them on the receiving end of a number of glowing reviews. After awarding them ‘Demo of the month’, the editor of Play Music magazine himself wrote:
‘The result is quite possibly the coolest demo we’ve ever heard.’
In 2006 they played both the Guilfest Music Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe; alongside some of the biggest names in the business. And after finishing a rousing set on the new bands stage at the superbly named ‘Glastonbudget 2007’ they were immediately asked to grace the main stage in 2008.
They were also hand picked by Virgin to play at Richard Branson’s Virgin Summer party to an audience of around 10.000. Unfazed by the occasion they took it in their stride and went down better than a beer at sunset!
Other rewards have come in the form of support slots with the likes of Alabama3 (who described the band as ‘the best unsigned band they’d seen for time’) and Mark Morris of the Bluetones.
Currently unsigned, Music Roll Exchange are now working harder than ever to be heard on a wider scale, and a small corner of the music industry has started to take note of their progress.
“In 2007, the live music scene is as strong and vibrant as ever because of bands like Music Roll Exchange. If this is the future of music, then boy does it smell good!”
(J.Cole www.musicomh.com)
Priding themselves on the fact that they are never short of new material the boys have again visited the recording studio to add even more tracks to their ever-expanding catalogue of tunes. In a time when originality is difficult to quantify Steve Rudd from UK-Fusion best summed up Music Roll Exchange:
‘There is something decidedly 'different' about this band, and once heard they are hard to forget’ (Uk Fusion)
Music Roll Exchange plan to firmly imbed themselves in the music memory of as many people as possible. In order to get your ears round the new music, or if you’d like to find out more about MRE gigs and news you can reach us at:
