About us

Montra formed while playing together at school in Glasgow. The bands sound has been heavily influenced by many great bands from the 60's right up to the present day such as The Beatles, The Doors, The Stone Roses, The Kinks and Oasis..........

Montra stopped playing when Sean and Jock went travelling in Australia for a year in 2003. The band got back together for rehearsels in early 2004 and recorded a demo in march 2005 which included the songs 'Unleash' and 'Alone'. The demo was sent around to various venus and clubs in Glasgow and the ball was rolling for some gigs if only they could find a bass player.........

Colin joined in the Autumn of 2005 and took up bass duty straight away to complete the band and kick off some proper rehearsals. In August 2006 the band released a 5-track EP, which included 4 new songs and has been in high demand since its release............

Some of the tracks have been played on Q96fm thanks to Thea Newcomb and got an excellent response as well as featuring on X-fms Myspace cadet and regular airtime on Sunny Govan 103.5 fm. The band are looking forward to the up and coming dates in and around Glasgow and most of all at having the chance to let as many people hear the songs as possible...........

More recordings are in the pipeline for the band, which well may include new songs like Go and Matter of Time. The first track GO sees the band explore their dark, rockier side with a venture into the quiet/loud genre of song-writing........the quiet atmospheric verses are contrasted by the loud in-your-face chorus which gives the song an amazing edge when the band perform it live.........

and the second track Matter of Time see's the band returning to what they do best - grabbing the listener by the bollocks and making them listen - born out of home-sickness and missing girls whilst in Australia, this song is a slow starter which builds into an anthemic chorus and has the hairs on the back of your neck standing up by the end.......these two songs indicate a new direction for montra and if you havent already checked the band out live then you know wot to do.........
