About us

mon Ouisch....

Planet Sound (Channel 4 teletext) - "9/10. Self-proclaimed "Dirty Wigan Skum", they sound as if they've been too busy fighting and banging each other in a rehearsal studio to have time to wash. As good as 2007's been for music there hasn't yet been a great Last Gang In Town band, which is where these superb rants of desperate youth come in. Angry, tuneful, Cribs-y, whoever signs this has a Next Big Thing guaranteed."

Artrocker - 'About time something rock'n'roll came out of Wigan rather than fancy dance moves and overblown Britpop and in mon Ouisch we have a band plenty punk enough to rock and as arty as their name suggests. Displaying the best of punk and post punk influences - the awkward vocal of Mark E. Smith, the speed and buzzsaw of WIRE and the punk-pop of The Buzzc*cks; likewise if The Police, Blur or Arctic Monkeys best moments did something for you then keep an eye on mon Ouisch. Memorable riffs and no-nonsense lyrics are the order of the day and with a killer demo doing the rounds word will spread soon.'

Bugbear - 'Wigan based 'dirty indie' band… Blur, Buzzc*cks, The Damned, Cribs. Good grimey indo punk with hummability and a general feeling of ill bred well being, which I like greatly… This lot are a cut above and should be paraded though the streets of Islington as the young gods they almost certainly are! Should be big biggedy big!'

WMC - 'The frantic energy and fever of mon Ouisch is excitable from the first listen. Hailing from Wigan, they have a knack of turning into a head-bopping chorus or firing off a riff from nowhere that grabs you by the balls (or pinches your nipples). They boast a strong rhythm section and have a pleasing, almost evil dark side to their sound. They hold the potential for a possible riot, in a good way.'

Glasswerk - 'Wigan’s finest longhairs return with another power packed assortment of lo-fi indie punk songs. Their back to basics sound is a real breath of fresh air. It’s like 1978 again and The Buzzc*cks need to come up with the goods. Nah, forget them. These Northern upstarts are doing it now. Brilliant!'

(Please note: This site will not let us write the band name 'The Buzzc*cks'! Unbelievable scenes!)
