About us
"....Monitor seem to be able to bridge the chasm between bands like Muse and the more commercial end of the spectrum” suggests Jackie Hayden of Hotpress. Their debut E.P. also recieved this response from Keith Cullen of Setanta Records “…It's one of the best demos I’ve heard in a long time…”
Monitors second EP was chosen as pick of the fortnight by Hotpress Magazine while their current release “Reasons to Leave” was given the following review; ”National Student Music Competition finalist's Monitor's follow-up to the 'Higher Than The Sky E.P.' (a former HOTPRESS Single of the Fortnight) is full of promise. It conjures up the same dark spaces as Editors, but fills it with the clang and chime of 'Boy'-era U2. Indeed, the sound, songs and skills here reflect a band who are eager to get out of here and fill some stadiums. With songs as compelling as 'On The Verge', they could yet make good on that ambition.
Monitor started in Cork, Ireland where they quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising acts to emerge on the city’s already thriving music scene. The four- piece recently shot to the attention of national press when they were chosen as finalists in the National Student Music Awards. Encouraged by the support they were receiving at home, Monitor relocated to Manchester, England where they are now in a position to concentrate on their music on a full time basis.
