About us
Mile High Penguins are a Three piece, consisting of Dean - Lead vocals/guitar, Waine - bass/vocals and Lawrence - drummer. We formed in 2004 as a way to pass the time. Performing covers to an audience of none in an Ilford flat, we wrote the only song in our first year as a three piece "Cafe Belside." Now in 2006, we have finally started to take things more seriously.
Mile High Penguins are now starting to gather up a decent sized fan base in our local area, and have played gigs at the Hope and Anchor, Dublin Castle and 12 Bar. We have an electro punk feel, and are not afraid of making music that is different. The most important thing to us is to enjoy the music we make.
'Loving the sound, you guys were great' - Guitarist from The Shame
'Sounding like a cabaret version of The Fall! beyond lofi, infact [whisper it] a bit amateurish, but is there a ruff hewn charm here or what?..I think so! Out of tune, out of time, out of this world! Dragnet era Fall, Country Teasers, Lou Reed, Pavement etc ' - Bugbear Bookings, Hope and Anchor
'Finally we had the The Mile High Penguins, these guys are good. And if they get the right promotion and their name about the right places they could actually go far.'
