Ah now this I enjoyed! If Anna Page was for the girls then this is music for the boys. A frenetic frontman who leaps about the stage, high energy guitars, think the funky side of Red Hot Chilis and RATM and you’re pretty much there, but without the noise splurges of the latter, in fact even the yelling is pretty musical. Coming from Bristol they’re interested to know how Bristol Rovers are getting on in their Wembley play off place final (they win) and both ‘Are you For Real?’ and ‘Funky’ are their best tracks.
Rock Reborn : Dec 20th 06, The Hatchet www.myspace.com/rockreborn
“As soon as they started their set, you could feel the energy exploding from the band members. Singer, Paul Hugo, blazed the stage by singing with such fire and passion. It was clear that he was giving it his all and it totally paid off. The drummer, Jason Bailey, was also on fire. A good drummer is hard to find and MelonFarmer are one of the lucky ones. He and bass player, Graeme Del-Nevo, complimented each others roles in the music, slotting together perfectly like a jigsaw. The guitarist, Jamie Lloyd, added his flavour to their mix but kept his own independence at the same time, which made the whole dynamics work. Their tunes tool me back t the time of 90’s grunge and rock, but without blatantly ripping off Nirvana and Green Day. This band showed that you can be influenced by such a genre and not let it control the sound your band produces. On their myspace profile, they say that they perform like every performance is their last. True to their word they did however it is going to be a long, long time before their last performance happens.”
