About us

Ray Mayhew formed the first real incarnation of Mayhem Deranged on leaving pop-cyberpunk band Sigue Sigue Sputnik in 1990.
He hung up his drum sticks and assumed the role of singer / songwriter and proceeded to amass a large body of material between 1990 and 1993.
Regrettably, the master recording sessions never took place and the demos have gone unheard until recently.
Another albums worth of material was written in 1996 with a new line up and an all new sound, but again, the material sadly never saw the light of day.
Perhaps it was never meant to be?
….

Fast forward to January 2005 and Ray picks up his drum sticks once more to play for Martin Degville's Sputnik 2 at the Garage, Highbury and that burning question of what happened after Sputnik was asked...perhaps the time was right to re-evaluate Mayhem Deranged and finally realise a burning ambition?

In March 2007 Ray, guitarist Kevin Prockter and bassist Robert Godfrey recorded new track "Here I Go Again" at Berry Street Studios, London.

With Kevin committed to other projects, suddenly along came John Catto perhaps best known as guitarist of pioneering Canadian punk band “The Diodes” and later “High Noon” over this side of the pond.
He was shortly followed by drummer Bob Malkowski formerly of electro pop band “The Modern”.
Within in a ridiculously short time the band play a low key debut gig at "Lark In The Park", London and now truly begins the story of Mayhem Deranged…
