About us
Listen up!
Mantango are a four piece Indie/Rock band from Writtle, Chelmsford. Fronted by the bullishly charismatic Simon French on Lead Guitar and Lead vocals with brother Joe French adding the dynamics with Rhythm Guitar and backing vocals, (with the occasional lead vocals to boot). The brothers French have been writing and experimenting together with music for over seven years, but it was in 2005 that they formed 'Mantango'. Old school friend Laz was the first to join forces, becoming the band's energetic drummer, and more recently on Bass, another lifelong mate and school buddy, Cridge. Mantango's tracks are a blend of heavy and driving, yet soulful, funky and melodic music and the live shows leave their audiences dazed. After recently attending a packed gig in their hometown, 'Panic Magazine' claimed their songs to be "Slick and accomplished Anthems".
Since forming, Mantango have been working hard gigging and promoting throughout London and Essex and have gained a loyal and ever growing fan base. Recent reviews and radio interviews have seen this likeable set of lads' popularity grow even further. The summer of 2008 holds great promise. They are making extremely good progress in the Surface Unsigned National Battle of the Bands competition along with looking forward to other big summer shows!
Their 3 track EP 'How About Now' is available to buy at gigs or can be downloaded from their myspace page.
