The Band
About us
Machine Ready were formed in August 2004, out of the ashes of Elbrook Court and started as an experimental electronica type thing with just vocals, keyboards and drum machine. The addition of amazing bass and most splendid guitar at the start of 2005 made us a proper band (er, whatever that is) and we played our first few gigs happily shielded from the joy that is a drum soundcheck. In July 2005 we recorded our first demo at the Life Injection Studios in Gourock with Jim Lang (Sneak Attack Tigers/Number 1 Son). This demo was reviewed in the Daily Record as “a heady mash up of Goldfrapp, pre-girls Human League and early Simple Minds, this Glasgow band mix electro club beats with filthy guitars and deadpan vocals". Very nice of them. And only 15p….. Late in summer '05 the drum machine announced it had found religion and was leaving but the band found triumph in adversity by enlisting a real, live, thumping drummer to complete the line-up and sound. Hurray! A bunch of successful gigs in Glasgow followed, including a storming set at the packed-out Johnny Cash tribute night at Stereo with a version of Ring of Fire that great man himself mightn't have easily recognised but definitely would have loved. A second 4 song demo was recorded in summer ’06 in La Chunky Towers studios with Scooter . Reaction to this demo on MySpace has been amazing and has led to us being offered a host of gigs around Glasgow , in the likes of King Tuts and Barfly, in October/November (can it be a tour if we don’t leave home? of course it can!) and further afield in Englandshire in the new year. After these, more recording and more gigs are what Santa is giving us for Christmas. We’ve been very good, honest.
