About us

Simon Davies and Richard Russell began playing and writing music together mid 2006; their aim to improve and mix their musical ideas and styles resulting in the harmonious entity of LP45. Bassist and double bassist, Murray Wyatt, later joined them, followed by Dean Harris on the drums establishing LP45 as a solid group of musicians and songwriters.

All, students of music at Coventry University, they’ve each had experience in bands from an early age and take pride in performing and perfecting their material.

LP45’s sound is a refreshing mix of influences blending the song writing styles of Buckley and Drake with the music and rhythms of Frank Zappa, Ray Charles and Amos Lee. Complete with rousing piano, vocal harmonies, hypnotic guitar melodies and a fiery rhythm section; LP45’s songs extend genres from heartfelt ballad through Jazz-Folk-Soul into Indie Rock and Pop.

Having supported the likes of NIZLOPI (FDM RECORDS) and THE ORDINARY BOYS (B-Unique/Polydor) and THE BRUTE CHORUS (Bumpman Originals) LP45 are earning a reputation as a quality live act with a lot to offer their local, devoted following and nationwide audiences alike.

Stay tuned for details of a LP45’s new EP starting production this Autumn, due for release in early 2008.
