About us

(We) Lost City Ramblers come from a deprived salt town in Cheshire called Winsford. I wouldn’t say its derelict but there’s a lot of people living in the shadows,
We fell together when everything else fell apart. The four of us had a band before this without Hamzi and Coppack. It was alright but we split up…….there’s nothing worse than just being alright! The more we got to know ‘em the more obvious it was that they had what we lacked, real live instigators! They want it all and so do we, it had to be.”

If we do have an agenda it’s to make people forget about the bullshit that surrounds there lives and take them some place else for a bit. We write songs that stand up to any of them The Kinks, The Stones, The Who, The Velvets we can be as good as any one and we will be. We can see that there’s a lot wrong, and when things are wrong someone should put it right. It’s not going to be easy but when was anything worth doing easy, you just have to stick to your guns.

We recorded our first album last summer with Ding Archer (The Fall, PJ Harvey, Bobbi Peru) it’s a real showcase of our earliest ideas brought to life. We play different genres but it’s all shot through with the same spirit. We’re proud of the album but at the same time we know the next one is gonna be so much more.

Lost City Ramblers will never be an easy band to pigeon hole. “I don’t fit into your stereotypes if I could I would cos it might feel nice inside, to know who I am but I know I’m a man.”
1. We demand music with balls and soul
2. We can spot a fake a mile away.
3. It doesn’t matter who say’s it, if anyone said anything at all that’d be enough for us!
4. Enough of the mono haircuts, generic lyrics, bored riffs and general lack of conviction it’s a crime!

“We created it; let’s take it over” cried Patti in 1976, it took a while but here we are.

Since we started out it’s just rolled, I guess that’s the point of it really……. We’ve started our own label and recorded our album we’re out gigging most nights and people are starting to believe. We’re always looking for creative people to come and join us photographers, artists, producers, mad heads, musicians, dope fiends, dancers anyone who’s living life really! If you can add to it come on down. We don’t feel the band is just the 6 of us who get up on stage; it could be anyone if your heads in the right place you can be just as much a part of it as any of us

“We’re in it for the long haul now. I see us touring in a big top with freaks as far as the eye can see; acrobats, jugglers, contortionists and clowns, a traveling explosion of energy and creativity. We all come from a small town and we know how shit it can be cos bands won’t go there unless you’ve got a HMV . So many gigs I’ve been to merge into each other, we want people to know they’ve seen Lost City Ramblers, more of an experience than a gig if you like………. It’s only a matter of time; you cannot f*ck with this band!
