About us

Little Doses have been entertaining Scottish crowds from their hometown base of Edinburgh since May 2006. Their first 2 song demo E.P attracted much interest, both from within the industry and without, including XFM Radio plays, a slot at last years Tbreak finals and over 35,000 Myspace listens. The new “Chemical Session” demos promise to push them even further.

While Kirsten Ross' vocals have invited comparisons to P.J Harvey and Stevi Nicks, the pounding rhythm section of Mark McClelland (Snow Patrol) and Michael Branagh (Degrassi) comes over like a beefed up Grandaddy taking Elastica's best hooks to the prom with a half bottle of Makers Mark in one pocket and a three pack of Trojan in the other!

The band has grown in stature and confidence over the past year, accruing a small yet enthusiastic fanbase and many glowing reviews. Word of mouth is a powerful force and appearances at last year's Wickerman Festival and Tbreak finals has helped to cement Little Doses' reputation for a ferocious live show.

Little Doses, Cabaret Voltaire,Edinburgh, 6/3/07, The Skinny (4/5 stars)

Little Doses hit the stage decked out in red and black, oozing confidence. Lead singer Kirsten Ross languidly gestures to the crowd with one hand, clasping a champagne flute in the other. Their banter is comfortable and funny and each song displays depth with layers of texture which manages to muster a full sound from a single guitar.

Their new single, Mile High, reflects a move towards more complex arrangements and there is a distinct difference between old songs and new, though the band is barely a year old. If their album can reflect the charisma of their live shows, this will definitely be one to pick up.

Little Doses, Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh, 6/3/07,

Bass lines are fat and distorted, drums are hard and funky, and singer Kirsten Ross (think Catwoman meets Cristina Martinez from 90s garage rockers Boss Hog) can screech and croon with equally devastating effect.

Barry Gordon (Daily Record)(4/5 stars)
