About us



Formed in 2004, A four piece from Walsall near Birmingham in the West Midlands United Kingdom with a huge passion for music. Using a blend of British Rock and U.S Grunge influences litmustest have created their own wildly driven yet Melodic style of Rock.

Song writing is a true band effort and all songs are wrote as a band in the studio. This method is a winning formula, to create a sound does not sound the same as any other band. Currently writing more material the band are keen not to stick to any particular style but their own. The aim is to keep writing songs that are from the heart, and not get complacent with sticking to the same style. With a no holds bared approach to writing, the recording of a truly great rock album is a dead cert.

Litmustest are currently looking for a recording contract and the promotion to bring their songs to the wider audience they deserve. With all the right flavours to attract a hard core under ground following, Litmustest also have tracks that will appeal to the masses, providing a launch pad for a long career in the music industry. This is a band who will have longevity and a maturing sound as the band progress through their career. Litmustest, An exiting band to see live and nothing is lost when they record. With the right backing and guidance Litmustest can go a long way.

Litmustest Have played many gigs locally including venues such as Birmingham Bar Fly, The Hard Rock Café Birmingham, Bar Academy, Jug of ale, Flapper & Firkin. Rock Café 2000 Stour bridge, plus many other smaller venues along the way.

November 2006 Litmustest opened for Joint Pop over two nights in Birmingham whilst they were here in the UK for the BBC in London.

In 2006 Litmustest reached the regional finals of the Emergenza Battle of the bands. Finishing in the top 8 Bands out of 100’s in the competition.

In 2007 Litmustest reached the regional semi Finals of the Emergenza battle of the bands.
Currently playing in the Banks’s West By Westmidlands Battle of the bands, and have reached the semi final stage so far.


Litmustest have also had some interest from independent record labels and management companies recently but so far nothing has come of this. The band feel that they are waiting for the right label to come along. Excepting the fact that they will have to work hard and promote the band around the UK. First Litmustest are currently looking for exposure to as many people as possible to build up a fan base in other parts of the country.

This band are a dedicated to their music and understand fully the sheer amount of work that this industry expect you to put in. An intelligent bunch of lads with a clear understanding of the music business and a awesome talent to write songs together. Defiantly standing heads above the rest.
