About us

LifeAmongPeople – or LAP mix weighty musical intelligence with social awareness. Armed with a broad palette they defy pigeonholing while wielding an undeniable power high on energy and packed with promise.

With songs about real situations and predicaments rather than 3 minute radio friendly ditties about getting dumped, LAP aren’t afraid of injecting some more challenging lyrical fare into their game.

‘Their wide scope of influences places them somewhere between the prog-grunge of Biffy Clyro and more metallic outfits; these articulate underdogs certainly deserve to enjoy wider recognition. For fans of Biffy Clyro and Deftones’ - 4/5 KERRANG!

Much of the feedback from magazines and fans alike uses the term ‘defies pigeon-holing’ - in a very positive way.
Rather than setting out to become the ‘next “insert genre here” band’, vocalist and guitarist Tony Litherland and drummer Jim Cattell first and foremost wanted to write music that THEY enjoyed – so combining their many musical influences from classic rock, punk, nineties alternative, indie, metal, folk, hiphop, and hardcore - mixed with their own sense of timing, atmosphere and adventure - they joined up with bassist Martin Wilson and guitarist Ste Stevens, they've created a fresher, tighter, newer, jawdroppingly awesome sound - making the music important again.

‘Manchester trio Life Among People are actually doing something daring and exciting. Their intense yet accessible blend of hardcore, punk and metal begs to be released from the constraints of a min-album. Listen Up!’ - RockSound magazine

Their reputation as an outstanding live act has earned them support slots alongside bands such as Eden Maine, The Juliana Theory, Devil Sold his Soul, Enter Shikari, Failsafe, colon open-bracket, and Planes Mistaken For Stars to name just a few and have been getting great praise from these bands for their performances and generating an amazing response from promoters, reviewers and crowds alike.
Big Cheese magazines LIVE section boasted - ‘punchy, atmospheric punk rock crossed post-hardcore - reminiscent of early Thrice or Biffy Clyro - the effect is mind blowing and emotionally stirring. 4/5’

2007 saw reviews and features in Kerrang, Metal Hammer, RockSound, Big Chese and a debut video appearance on the Scuzz music channel. They’ve have also been become one of the newest additions to Jagermeisters’ Jagermusic roster.
Described by many as the band to look out for, Life Among People have honed tracks from their previous three Eps, written a handful of new ones and have started work on their first full length album, due to be released later in 2008.

Metal Hammer – ’Their sound is far from derivative and seems to veer from straightforward screamo bluster to epic, reverb drenched grandiosity with the greatest of ease - catch them if you can, these boys could be massive in 12 months time.’
