About us
"According to their Myspace, this Welsh five-piece sound like "the product of five guys wrtting music in a musty, damp room". Lets hope they never get famous and upgrade to a luxury penthouse because this environment has helped create six track of accomplished indie-rock. 'Fear Of Change' comes replete with snaking guitar lines and uplifting choruses, the twinkling beauty during the last ,minute of 'We Are Nowhere' is simply stunning, and Mike Mansfield's slightly throaty vocals and pastel artwork complement everything perfectly. Kick Box Riot sound wise beyond their years and should be extremely proud to join the slew of young and talented UK rock bands helping to fly the flag." - [8]- Dan Morgan - Rock Sound 2008.
"It's no wonder they were voted the Radio 1 listeners' favourite; our listeners love them, too!. We had a huge response after we played that track last week, including from listeners all over the world on the live web-stream. We could genuinely be experiencing the birth of a global band here." University Radio York Rock Show
Formed in March of 2007 in Pontypool/Cardiff, the band have been gigging frantically since April, earning themselves a reputation for chaotic live performances that have won over crowds all over South Wales.
Get Kick Box Riot's Self Released debut E.P "Seeing Ghosts" on itunes now.
"Snappy post-hardcore pop that recalls Hundred Reasons when they still mattered or At The Drive In at the height of their powers, Welsh rockers Kick Box Riot indulge in the same collision of barked vocal ticks, violent guitar surges and scattershot drum beats.
Mini LP, SEEING GHOSTS is a collection of songs brimming with promise, energy and excitement, the likes of THE HITCHHIKER and FEAR OF CHANGE tunes that blur the lines between epic stadium rock and sweaty punk roots. Vocalist Mike sings in an impassioned yelp that veers between melodic intent and sneering snarl, injecting the songs with just the right energy and excitement; WE ARE NOWHERE and KEEP THE CHANGE YOU FILTHY ANIMALS sounding like a spirited dust up between Fugazi, A and Rival Schools.
Title track, SEEING GHOSTS is a short, sharp surge of in your face post-hardcore pop whilst the closing number YOU'RE ONLY YOUNG ONCE sees Kick Box Riot surfing jagged guitar riffs and complex drum patterns to a glorious climax.
A thrilling, visceral blast of post-hardcore pop from Kick Box Riot, SEEING GHOSTS heralds the arrival of a new band well worth getting very excited about n 2008." - www.ukmusicreview.com 2008
