About us

Following the success of his first EP "No Faith", Jim Hickey has delivered another collection of surprising new material. "Inside Outside", his new EP, contrasts his unique electric sound with disarmingly honest acoustic works. With influences as far apart as Radiohead and Oasis to Pink Floyd and the Police, Jim's combination of sound, energy and songwriting guarantees exciting results.

"The songwriting has a passionate feel to it." – SURGE Radio

This was first evident on last year's "No Faith". Written and recorded in Berlin, it introduced Jim's incomparable approach to contemporary songwriting and performance. Jim decided to write and record his first solo work in Berlin after touring Germany as a session guitarist. He felt Berlin had the energy that fit to the song fragments in his mind. However, tired of performing for other acts - as a session player since the age of 17 - Jim formed his own band and played around the UK while trying to piece together his ideas. Feeling directionless he struck out on his own and moved to Berlin in February 2006. The new surroundings resulted in a landslide of new material.

"This is one of the best tracks I have heard in a while just everything fits together really well and is an emotional song that grips you. Its a must listen track that only comes around once in a while."
– Xpression FM

"No Faith“ was recorded at LowSwing Studios in Berlin. Working with new musicians as well as studio wizard Guy Sternberg lent new focus to the raw energy in Jim's songs. The result – a mix of Jim's intense vocal delivery, strong guitar lines and a powerful rhythm section – is a stunning realisation of Jim Hickey's songwriting. In January 2007, after a limited release to a selected group of UK radios, "No Faith" achieved great critical and popular acclaim with radios and listeners alike. This turned into weeks of rotation followed by extremely positive response which culminated in "No Faith" reaching no. 36 in one Top 40 chart.

"I can see hints of promising development for this new artist." – CUR1350 Radio

After a series of well received solo gigs in London and Berlin, Jim started work on a new set of songs. The first to be recorded and released is "Inside Outside". Recorded at Metropolitan Laboratories in Berlin, it showcases Jim's most jagged yet delicate work to date. Never one to follow the crowd, this startling new release reveals new directions and departs from the norms and expectations of modern rock music.
