About us

Biography

Intimate Stranger was formed in 2005 in Santiago, Chile by
ex-guitarist of Cucsifae together with bassist/singer Tessie.
In late 2006 they moved to London and joined by drummer
Rene, immediately settled into a sound that is reflected in
their debut album, "Life Jacket.” The three-piece collective
blends well-paced alternative rock with effective and lingering
pop melodies that recall the song structures of their punk
and classic rock influences. Simple and driven instrumentation
back the smooth, melodic female vocals that complete the
band’s ambience of melancholic rock. Special attention should
be paid to the lyrics, which successfully fuse a sense of the
eclectic and lyrical with the rawness of urban life. After
entering the London scene with gigs at The Comedy, the Bull
and Gate, The Windmill, Catch, and the entire
Camden/Islington circuit, they are knocking on the door of
Barfly and the Mean Fiddler events and venues. Their recent
performance at Ladyfest, in Cambridge was a knockout and
confirmed their readiness for the grander stage; with planned
gigs in the UK, Spain, Mexico, South America and the USA
over the coming year.

Review

As Karl Nielsen, Head of Marketing at Channel U TV
(VITV/Fizz) asserted, “...there is something about Intimate
Stranger’s style that makes the band original and unique.
There is something about the rhythms and the whole
structure that hits you on first listening.” Cooking Vinyl’s
Rob Collins was impressed with the melodies, which are
helping the band build a strong live fan base.

With so many memorable songs on the album, it is difficult to
select a winner, but if concerts are anything to go by then
the fan’s choices are clear. Back In The Box, For Annie and
The Chase are firm favorites. In his pre-release review of the
album, Fringecore’s Dee not only emphasized his personal
recommendation, but added that “the melodic riffs,
enchanting vocals, tight bass and catchy lyrics, all fuse
together to make for one cracking album and promising
debut for a band that have just broken onto the UK scene.”
