About us
Formed in late 2003, HIATUS have been honing their craft rehearsing relentlessly and performing wherever and whenever, drawing on many influences. Rock from all the decades can be heard in the mix along with funk, indie, chill-out and metal. Not the easiest band to pigeonhole, but definitely the hardest to ignore.
They’re a myriad of contrasts, heavy, yet soothing, much like Dominic’s vocals, delicate yet raspy, and above all…REAL. That’s probably what makes HIATUS stand out from the current crop of rock hopefuls, they perform and write from the heart, never recording anything that doesn’t hit their own car CD players.
Some of the best venues in the UK have played host to HIATUS, London Astoria (final of Emergenza, winners best guitarist), Staffordshire University (supporting WHEATUS during their NO1 stint with Teenage Dirtbag) Manchester Academy 3 (various supports for SJM / Mean Fiddler etc..) to name but a few.
In 2004 HIATUS self hired the 300 capacity Roadhouse in Manchester to release their debut EP “Who Is Responsible For This?” through Nailed Recordings and create even more awareness, it worked, it was a sell out thanks to the hard work of the band and the help of KEY103 radio who backed the band and continue to support.
HIATUS are now touring their self titled/self made debut album. Their first show since its release was a show at Manchester’s last ever famous DPercussion festival. A prime example of the bands drive and attitude, they weren’t booked, turning up unannounced with a generator and a van full of gear, they set up at the entrance having got clearance from the authorities AND the event staff..? Played a 45min set to a buzzing crowd of thousands (-including the moving cue) XFM Manchester just happened to be watching and interviewed the band straight after for their evening show. A remarkable achievement considering the risks involved.
