About us

Formed in 2007, Hey Bulldog have created a unique sound, mixing Beatles-esque melodies with the musical prowess of Led Zeppelin. This incredible blend quickly won Hey Bulldog national attention as Steve Lamacq’s unsigned band of the week. Their radio debut on his BBC 6music show came before even playing their first gig and led to Manchester music legends Clint Boon and Mani championing the band on radio stations XFM and The Revolution.

Staying away from the skinny jeans, pointy shoes brigade, songs like the unforgettable rocker “Desperado” and the poptastic riff of “Sarah” have achieved cult status, propelling the band to play with the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Jim Noir, B.C. Camplight and Mark Morriss (Bluetones). This individuality also recently earned them the chance to participate in the experimental 24hr cultural “conversation” The Tony Wilson Experience. As guitarist/songwriter Rob Manton puts it: “It’s not about being part of a trend or a scene, it’s about making good music.”

The Meaning of Loyalty e.p. - Hey Bulldog’s first recording as a full band - was featured in Piccadilly Records’ best new releases and brilliantly captures the energetic live performances and undoubted musical ability that has seen the trio pack out venues like The Ruby Lounge, Manchester, The Dublin Castle, Camden, and The Box in Glasgow. Have a listen and judge for yourself. This is a band not to be missed.
