About us
Hand of dog were formed in Oct 07 and hail from Glasgow/ Scotland , we play a mix of sludge come stoner come gritty blues blended with riff rock with everything else inbetween.
Were all veterans of the scottish live scene and have played in various other bands before forming the band known now as "Hand of Dog"
Rock3Music
Hand of Dog are from Glasgow and they write and play a storming style of rock n roll
that brought me out of my bored stupor yawning madly as my dulled brain gasped for oxygen, my neurons firing like crazy as they became over stimulated by the pumping sound that is 'Hand of Dog'. there is some rock that makes you nod and some rock that makes you swing from side to side, Hand Of Dog open the EP with a track that makes you do both at the same time, titled 'Call The Shots' it certainly does with its brilliant sound. I thought anything else after this has got to be a let down, because if the other three tracks were going to make you boogie like the opener, hand Of dog are going to be the biggest sensation since... but in complete contrast the second track is a dirty sludgy guitar riff number that went a long way to prove that this band are going to be more then a one track wonder, in the bands brief they mention that they have 22 songs ready and that I have been privileged to listen to four of them.
The second track '16 Cities' ends up turning into a memorable little number with its intelligent crafting, The third song 'Hillbilly Heroin' has a retro 70's lyrical base of R+B but still with the bands dirty fuzzy guitar and Peter Fleming's throaty raw vocals reminiscent of a young big nosed Scotsman at the turn of the sixtys/seventys era, the final song on this demo 'Single Malt Handed' returns to the staccato short lined lyrics of the opening track but with more lead guitar, and that dirty guitar is just so cool.
