The Grifters like the rock music. Although it isn't always immediately apparent.

Conor selflessly sacrificed his lead guitarist desires when he successfully adopted the bass, and has since nurtured it with all the loving devotion a multi-millionaire pop star can be reasonably expected to afford her latest Malawian - although he does show signs of axe-merchant jealousy with occasional snap ebay purchases of Epiphone double-necks. An epic this way comes, methinks.

Dave most selfishly refused to entertain thoughts of any fewer than six strings, and picks them like a Johnny Marr who finally got with the programme and turned his amp up to 11. His songs tend to be almost complicated enough, but there's always room for another segue. After some arm-twisting he agreed to become a fully-fledged lead singer, and his Mum's very proud. Can sing slowies too.

Garry will have none of your four-piece, 20° to the horizontal, you-have-to-be-able-to-see-my-face drum kits, thank you very much. Or much sensitivity on the slowies. In fact, whatever songs enter Grifters rehearsals, they usually leave with whimpering apologies for having ever dared to be so quiet, once he's sorted them out. Dozens of very loud toms and cymbals mean that even the most heart-felt ballad really hurts, and we don't mean with emo angst. Does decent backing vocals too, so long as he can keep his hair out of his mouth.
