About us
"Spontaneous and Pretty" ManchesterMusic (May 2007)
Greyaye is the solo project of Macclesfield based musician/producer Greg Jackson.
In his music Greg combines honest, heartfelt lyrics with memorable harmony and melody in a way which enhances their meaning. On listening one can instantly appreciate the attention to detail involved in crafting these songs which prove captivating time and again.
Whilst studying Creative Music Technology at the University of Hull, Scarborough campus where he was introduced to many different types of composition and new production techniques. His approach to songwriting is often experimental yet the music remains very accessible; it is hard not to find something in which you can relate. In Greyaye you find variation and originality which is truelly refreshing.
For those wondering why he uses "Greyaye" as an alias, the story goes something like:
When his sister, Hannah, was very young, she would stuggle to pronounce his full name, Gregory. Try as she might she couldn't say it and so settled on calling im "Greyaye" (he wasn't sure how to spell this!), which makes sense really for a little-un!
Due to the fact that there are a few Greg Jacksons out there already making music he decided to use this alias which is true and unique to him.
