About us

In the beginning, there was just a word and that word was Fuckshovel. If it wasn't for that word then this band wouldn't exist. Simple as.

Formed at a Velvet Revolver gig in 2005 the name gave birth to the band - initially writing for fun and with the intention of cajoling a bunch of mates into to a few local gigs for beer money. Within a few months a permanent bass player and drummer were recruited and at this stage the band recorded their first demo – the Wake Up Or Die EP – which got them play-listed and interviewed on UK’s Total Rock Radio. Further recording followed and by the end of the year the band had started playing its first gigs.

In 2006, the band scaled down to a four-piece and this gave them a fresh impetus and a tighter sound. London gigs at venues such as the Underworld and the Borderline and motorway trips to such exotic locations as Guisborough, Trefforest and Burnley have further honed their sound and brought down the finishing times in their infamous post-gig Guinness and Crème Egg race.

2007 has seen them record six killer tracks (Long Time Dead , The Antidote, Skull & Bones, Redneck Nazis, Bush War and I Don’t Believe In your God) in London’s famed Metropolis studios (recording home of U2, Slipknot, Babyshambles and Kate Moss). As a result of this session labels have started taking an interest, John Kennedy took to playing Long Time Dead on his XFM show and Skull & Bones will be featured on a cover mount CD with the January edition of UK magazine Rock Sound. Over the next few months the band will complete their debut album with producer Rohan Onraet which will released early 2008.

The debut video for Long Time Dead has been aired on MTV’s Headbangers Ball in the UK, Europe and South Africa. It is straight forward yet inspired. Starring Nobby, their twenty-six stone tour driver, as its star, he doesn’t talk, dance or act, he just polishes off seven tins of Ravioli in three and a half minutes.

Long Time Dead and Skull & Bones will be released as a 7” picture disc (distribution through Pinnacle) and are both available for download on iTunes now.
