About us
"Seriously Good" - BBC Online
"Brilliant Live Band" - Phil Beckett
"The Best Live band you've never seen" - Manchestermusic.co.uk
Originally hailing from Hyde, DILE was the brainchild of lead singer Dennis Matthews and comprised of customers who used to come into his record shop to buy the sort of music that just wasn’t available in the other stores. Armed with people of a similarly eclectic taste in music, the first DILE CD was born and the first gigs took place.
From that first CD, the standout track “Garstang” was soon picked up on by local radio stations and quickly became a cult favourite with listeners helping the band win a huge army of fans drawn in by the bizarre but amusing imagery created by its lyrics.
A few line up changes later and another CD in the bag, the band line up has now settled into its present state earning a reputation as a live act to look out for. Support slots with the likes of The Fall, The Undertones, Half Man-Half Biscuit, Hugh Cornwell and soon, Fishbone mean that the Ska-tinged pop/punk/indie/rock mix that is DILE is set to get more and more popular with the masses.
Having SOLD OUT their own headline show at Manchester’s Academy 3 and organising the recent “Song’s in the Key of Life” charity event at the 1200 seater Hippodrome this year and being picked as one of the final 7 bands from over 500 demos submitted to Unknown Pleasures for the Manchester International Festival, it looks like you are going to be hearing a LOT more DILE in the future. Best keep ‘em peeled!!
