About us

Cut Glass Accent is a band made up of 3 parts in equal measure.

One gets it's thrills off the live stage listening to pop punk and anything catchy, poppy, fast and fun. This part of the band is a fan and influenced bybands such as Blink182, New Found Glory, Black Mother Cap, Alkaline Trio, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Sum41, Bowling For Soup, Foo Fighters, Feeder & Jimmy Eat World.

The next part is dark, angry and resentful. It's the creep. It prefers heavy music with passionately angry vocals and deep guitar riffs and is influenced by bands such as Deftones, Rage Against The Machine, Korn, Metallica, Keiko, Biffy Clyro, Finch, Reuben & Glassjaw.

The other is filled with experimentation and originality. It prefers to see bands and music that is willing to push and sound different, the risk takers in style, full of repeating delays, heavy guitars mixed with catchy vocals or ones that make you feel uncomfortable, ones willing to try something not done before. It takes influence from bands such as Vex Red, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Greenspace, Incubus, Placebo, Rush & Muse.

We are Cut Glass Accent.

Formed in late 2002 but not complete and gigging until late 2003, Cut Glass Accent is best described as an Alt Rock 4 piece. Ambitious and determined the band has always jumped in at the deep end and in it’s almost 5 years since their first gig at the Blackbull in Bedlington, the band has played shows varying in size and importance from small gigs in their home town’s neighbours of Blyth, Bedlington, Seaton Delaval and Ashington to gigs at York’s Stone Roses’ Bar, Swindon’s Area 51, Newcastle’s Carling Academy, Northumbria Uni’s Stage 2 and venue’s along the Scottish border, the band has always tried to put everything into their gigs. Often acting as promoters and organisers for gigs with other bands from other areas CGA has played with signed and unsigned bands known throughout their region and country such as Keiko (were signed up to the same management as Hundred Reasons & Twofold), Klay, Ninepoundnote and Broadway’s Not Ready as well as bands from across the pond such as Waving At Strangers from the US and Spain’s No Children.

In keeping with the band’s DIY attitude, with most of the band at around 17 years old, CGA sold in excess of 500 copies of their debut album “Fractures” with copies sold at gigs, HMV (Newcastle), J.G Windows, Steel Wheels & RPM in 2005. The follow up to this album “This Statement is False” will be released in a similar matter in late 2008 early 2009. This new album, goes in a completely new direction and could be considered a completely different band to that of the band that created “Fractures” (at the time of recording Tony Hardy had replaced Darren Dickson on drums for the year and a half from conception and then through recording of the album) with influences and tastes changing over the years from when Fractures was first written.
