About us
Space, stars, planets, NASA, rockets…blastronauts? Blastronauts is the brain child of duo James Allison and Jacob Halpern and is quickly gathering pace on its musical quest. After being in the popular rock group Jingo and playing in many other bands together and separately, in the US and abroad, James and Jacob decided to cut the bullshit and just do everything themselves. What evolved from this little idea? After spending everyday of the summer of ’07 jamming, honing their musical abilities, learning a mass amount of instruments, and generally being magically creative and spacey, the group organized all their ideas on a portastudio and immediately released the songs online. With an indie alternative rock sound that combines the classics of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin with modern indie and alternative rock powerhouses such as Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Incubus, and Foo Fighters, and James and Jacob’s own “stoner jam rock” influence, interest in the group gathered pace and James and Jacob headed to the studio to see how far they could take their music. After some brilliant time in the studio the group is currently mixing and mastering the 4 songs to be released on their forthcoming album, “Interstellar Groove Machine,” due in early 2008, and playing live solo shows while they spend 3 months apart “getting creative.” Blastronauts will be back in December to do a string of live shows with special guests across the northeast and Midwest and will finish recording their full length album at EP studios in Columbus, OH with legendary producer and engineer Tony Stewart. Stay tuned for more blastastic fun space people! PAYCE!
