About us
With the video for their winter 07/08 single Do The Robot, these Swiss youngsters probably made one of the best music videos of the year. Directed by Welsh shooting star Graeme Pearce it is now getting airplay in various countries, is to be shown UK-wide in Top Shop and got the band a record deal with Japanese indie-label Kurofune Records (Shout Out Louds, Good Shoes, The Bishops, etc.) who released their debut album in March 2008.
The band got a record deal with new British indie-label Yergh Records. Their album is also out on Japanese Kurofune Records (Shout Out Louds, Good Shoes, The Bishops, etc.).
It all started with named album – Come And Figure It Out. 7 Dollar Taxi got nominated a ‘Breaking Band’ by NME and several songs on the record got radio airplay in countries. The band accordingly spent a lot of time touring all over Switzerland, the UK, Germany and Spain, playing shows alongside the likes of Babyshambles, The Blood Arm and The Blue Van.
Meanwhile they’ve holed up in the studio in order to record the all so important second album. It is obvious that the band have something big in mind with it: the record is supposed to be the next step on their way to the throne of indie-rock. “Otherwise we’ll quit”, drummer Simon Wigger is joking but you can tell – these lads won’t be giving up so easily.
Watch out: 7 Dollar Taxi are preparing for a decent UK tour this summer (24th July to 4th August). For tour dates check out myspace.com/7dollartaxi.
